Description:

Whales and Dolphins seen swimming close to the canoes of the ancient Maori fisherman guaranteed that no sharks were present. Therefore the fisherman felt protected.

Today this is a symbol of the protection we give or receive from our special friends, as well as a reminder to respect all living creatures.

Ornament 4 Approx 110 x 80mm NZ $1050

Name: Ornament 4 Size: Approx 110 x 80 mm Price: NZ$1050

Description:

The small, flightless Kiwi bird appears at first sight to be completely defenceless.

But when necessity arises, this creature has two weapons that any wise potential adversary would think twice about coming in contact with.

These weapons are its powerful feet and incredibly strong claws. The Kiwi can forage for food, run to safety, or stand and fight for its life or the lives of its young with these powerful weapons.

The person who emulates these qualities would be, outwardly perhaps, gentle and quietly self assured, but able to display great strength both physically and mentally, when such qualities are called for.

This person would be known to have great strength of character.

Ornament 1 Approx 150 x 80mm NZ $3100

Name: Ornament 1 Size: Approx 150 x 80 mml Price: NZ$3100

Description:

The Koru (fern frond) symbolises new life growing through to maturity.

The natural growth of the fern relates appropriately to family life. At its early stages in life, the fragile and delicate fern enjoys the protection and support of surrounding ferns. The Hei Matau (fish hook) symbolises provision and prosperity.

The combination of two of the strongest symbols in Maori culture in one design depicts the bonding of two individuals in one relationship. While both can individually be very strong, capable and independent, they are also united in a bond not easily broken, as they continue to embrace each other.

In this way, they grow in unison, supporting and protecting each other and those dear to them, through the turbulences of life.

Name: Ornament 6 Size: Approx 100mm tall Price: NZ$1050

Description:

The profile of the birds head pictures the Manaia, a mythical creature in ancient Maori culture which was said to be able to provide guidance. Today, the reminder is for us to seek, listen and appreciate the guidance of those who are not only qualified, but who also have our best interests at heart.

The hook, Hei Matau pictures prosperity. In ancient times the fisherman was greatly respected because he worked hard to provide food for the ones he loved. The people prospered as a result of his hard work. So too, in our day, if we work hard at things that are important to us, such as our jobs and our relationships with others, we should benefit personally and bring happiness to those around us. We should prosper as a result of the effort we put into realizing our goals. And just as the barb on a hook ensures that the catch is ours, we should hold on fiercely to everything good in our lives, if we let go, we may never get another chance.
