Description:

The Koru (fern frond) symbolises new life growing through to maturity.

The natural growth of the fern relates appropriately to family life. At its early stages in life, the fragile and delicate fern enjoys the protection and support of surrounding ferns.The Hei Matau (fish hook) symbolises provision and prosperity.

The combination of two of the strongest symbols in Maori culture in one design depicts the bonding of two individuals in one relationship. While both can individually be very strong, capable and independent, they are also united in a bond not easily broken, as they continue to embrace each other.

In this way, they grow in unison, supporting and protecting each other and those dear to them, through the turbulences of life.
