Description:

Manaia

The profile of the birds head pictures the Manaia, a mythical creature in ancient maori culture which was said to be able to provide guidance.

Today, the reminder is for us to seek, listen and appreciate the guidance of those who are not only qualified, but who also have our best interests at heart.

The Hook, Hei Matau pictures prosperity. In ancient times the fisherman was greatly respected because he worked hard to provided food for the ones he loved. The people prospered as a result of his hard work.

So too, in our day, if we work hard at things that are important to us, such as our jobs and our relationships with others, we should benefit personally and bring happiness to those around us.

We should prosper as a result of the effort we put into realising our goals.

Description:

Whales and Dolphins seen swimming close to the canoes of the ancient Maori fisherman guaranteed that no sharks were present. Therefore the fisherman felt protected.

Today this is a symbol of the protection we give or receive from our special friends, as well as a reminder to respect all living creatures.

Description:

The fish hook symbolises provision and prosperity, stemming from traditional times when the staple diet of the coastland Maori was bird and fish. A skilful fisherman worked hard and often risked his life to provide for his family. Because of his diligent efforts, his family and tribe were well cared for and so prospered.
Today, may prosperity come to those who truly deserve it, due to their hard work on behalf of those dear to them.

Description:

This pendant represents the fiddlehead of the fern, starting off as new growth and eventually unfolding into full bloom and maturity. In the process of this growth, the fern branches out and goes off into different directions but always returns back to a central point.
As we grow we branch out, or venture into different avenues of life, but we never forget where our roots lie.

Description:

The Natural growth of the fern relates very closely to the relationship between two people who enjoy a strong bond of love
Part of the fern is very strong and sometimes completely encircles the small frond which tends to be very fragile, The large fern does not stifle the smaller, but provides protection and support so that the fern can grow and develop in safety.
In a relationship between a loving couple there can be “role” changes as circumstances sometimes demand When either partner becomes fragile and vulnerable he/she can confidently reach out to that very special friend and know that compassionate support will be instant.
The Koru (Fern) is a symbol of a strong inseparable relationship, based on sincere love, absolute trust and total understanding.
